The Woman and the Dragon (Revelation 12:1-6)

I. THE SIGN OF THE WOMAN

a. The woman’s identity

Genesis 37:9 (NASB) Now he had still another dream, and related it to his brothers, and said, “Lo, I have had still another dream; and behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”

Genesis 37:10-11 (NASB) 10 He related it to his father and to his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have had? Shall I and your mother and your brothers actually come to bow ourselves down before you to the ground?” 11 His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the saying in mind.

c. The woman’s offspring

Isaiah 9:6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

II. THE ANIMOSITY TOWARDS THE WOMAN

a. The dragon’s identity

Job 41:18-21 (NASB) 18 “His sneezes flash forth light, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. 19 “Out of his mouth go burning torches; Sparks of fire leap forth. 20 “Out of his nostrils smoke goes forth as from a boiling pot and burning rushes. 21 “His breath kindles coals, and a flame goes forth from his mouth.

c. The dragon’s destruction

III. THE RESULTS FOR THE WOMAN

a. The woman’s Messiah

b. The woman’s protection
