The Incarnation of Christ

John 1:14 (NASB) And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. 

1 John 4:2 (NASB) By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;

  1. The prediction of the person

Genesis 3:15 (NASB) And I will put enmity  Between you and the woman,  And between your seed and her seed;  He shall bruise you on the head,  And you shall bruise him on the heel.”  

Galatians 3:16-19 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as referring to many, but rather to one, “And to your seed,” that is, Christ.  (19) Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made.

Hebrews 2:14  Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,

1 John 3:8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.

Isaiah 9:6 (NASB) For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;  And the government will rest on His shoulders;  And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.  

2. The prediction of the place

Micah 5:2 (NASB) “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Toolittle to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity.” 

Matthew 2:5 (NASB) They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet: 


a. Old Testament support for the Virgin Birth

  1. Isaiah chapter 7

Isaiah 7:14 (NASB) “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.  

Matthew 1:22 (NASB) Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet:  

Matthew 1:22-23 (NASB) 22 Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a son, and they shall call His name Immanuel ,” which translated means, “God with us.” 

b. New Testament support for the Virgin Birth

  1. Luke chapter 1

2 Samuel 7:16 (NASB) “Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever.””‘  

2. Matthew chapter 1

Matthew 1:11-12 (NASB) 11 Josiah became the father of Jeconiah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon. 12 After the deportation to Babylon: Jeconiah became the father of Shealtiel, and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel. 

Jeremiah 22:30 (NASB) “Thus says the Lord, ‘Write this man down childless, A man who will not prosper in his days; For no man of his descendants will prosper Sitting on the throne of David Or ruling again in Judah.’ ”
