The Great Escape (Revelation 12:11-17)

I. ISRAEL OVERCOMES SATAN’S WRATH

a. They overcame because of Calvary

1 Peter 1:18-19 (NASB) 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.

Romans 8:1 (NASB) Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

b. They overcame by their testimony

Romans 10:17 (NASB) So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

1 Peter 1:23 (NASB) for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.

James 1:18 (NASB) In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.

c. They overcame by their commitment

II. ISRAEL ESCAPES SATAN’S PERSECUTION

a. The wrath of his persecution

b. The focus of his persecution

Matthew 24:16-20 (NASB) 16 then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. 17 “Whoever is on the housetop must not go down to get the things out that are in his house. 18 “Whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak. 19 “But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 “But pray that your flight will not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath.

c. The failure of his persecution

Exodus 19:4 ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself.

Deuteronomy 32:11 “Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, That hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on His pinions.

Isaiah 40:31 Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.

Daniel 11:26 (NASB) “Those who eat his choice food will destroy him, and his army will overflow, but many will fall down slain.

Psalms 124:1-8 (NASB) 1 “Had it not been the Lord who was on our side,” Let Israel now say, 2 “Had it not been the Lord who was on our side When men rose up against us, 3 Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their anger was kindled against us; 4 Then the waters would have engulfed us, The stream would have swept over our soul; 5 Then the raging waters would have swept over our soul.” 6 Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us to be torn by their teeth. 7 Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the trapper; The snare is broken and we have escaped. 8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Ephesians 6:12 (NASB) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
