God’s Vision for Our Mission – Part 1 (Isaiah 6:8)

God’s Vision for Our Mission Part 1 – Isaiah 6:8

Isaiah 6:8 (NASB) Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

I. THE QUESTION THAT IS ASKED BY GOD

Exodus 3:13 (NASB) 13 Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?”

Exodus 3:10 (NASB) 10 “Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.”

Exodus 4:13 (NASB) 13 But he said, “Please, Lord, now send the message by whomever You will.”

Exodus 5:22 (NASB) 22 Then Moses returned to the Lord and said, “O Lord, why have You brought harm to this people? Why did You ever send me?

Jeremiah 1:7 (NASB) 7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ Because everywhere I send you, you shall go, and all that I command you, you shall speak.

Jeremiah 26:12 (NASB) 12 Then Jeremiah spoke to all the officials and to all the people, saying, “The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.

Jeremiah 26:15 (NASB) 15 “Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood on yourselves, and on this city and on its inhabitants; for truly the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing.”

Ezekiel 2:3 (NASB) 3 Then He said to me, “Son of man, I am sending you to the sons of Israel, to a rebellious people who have rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day.

Jonah 3:1-2 (NASB) 1 Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time, saying, 2 “Arise, go to Nineveh the great city and proclaim to it the proclamation which I am going to tell you.”

Psalms 96:3 (NASB) 3 Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NASB) 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

II. THE RESPONSE THAT IS GIVEN BY ISAIAH

a. He responds with his availability

Romans 12:1-2 (NASB) 1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

b. He responds with his agreeability

“The world has yet to see what God can do with and for and through and in a person who is fully and wholly consecrated to Him” – Henry Varley

“The first thing that accounts for God’s using D.L. Moody so mightily was that he was a fully surrendered man. Every ounce of that two-hundred-and-eighty-pound body of his belonged to God; everything he was and everything he had, belonged wholly to God.”

III. THE ACTION THAT IS PERFORMED BY THE CHURCH

a. Pray

Romans 10:1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.

1 Timothy 2:1-4 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, (3) This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, (4) who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
